On May 17, the China Foundry Association released statistics on China's foundry industry. In 2017, the total output of various types of castings in China was 49.4 million tons, an increase of 4.7% over 2016. Among them, aluminum (magnesium) alloy castings increased by 5.8% due to lightweight demand, reaching 7.3 million tons in 2017.

From the perspective of the output of different materials, gray cast iron reached 21.15 million tons in 2017, an increase of 3.9%; ductile iron (including compacted graphite iron) 13.75 million tons, an increase of 4.2%; by rail transit, mining and metallurgy, construction machinery and other industries Driven by the growth rate of steel castings, the growth rate reached 8.8%.

In terms of the proportion of castings of various materials, in 2017, the output of steel castings resumed growth, accounting for 11.3% (10.8% in 2016), and the output of aluminum (magnesium) alloy castings rose to 14.8% (2016) 14.6%; 13.4% in 2015), the proportion of ductile iron parts was 27.8%, a slight correction (2016: 28.0%).
